Two AEW stars have been revealed to be coaches behind the scenes!
In addition to on-screen talent, All Elite Wrestling has a number of coaches that work behind the scenes in the company. Many of the names on the list are well known, such as Pat Buck, Jerry Lynn, and Madison Rayne.
Until recently, Ace Steel also served as a coach in the promotion, but due to his involvement in the brawl following All Out (during which he reportedly threw a chair that hit Nick Jackson in the face as well as grabbed Kenny Omega by the hair and bit him), he is not expected to return.
Some on-screen talent also serve in a coaching role, such as QT Marshall and Ariya Daivari. In fact, QT Marshall has used his role as a coach and trainer in numerous storylines throughout his All Elite Wrestling career.
According to a new report from Fightful Select, two more active performers have also taken on the role of coach backstage in AEW. Long time wrestling veteran Dr. Luther coached a match at AEW Grand Slam, and when Fightful Select asked about him taking on that role, they were told he had been coaching for quite some time.
The 53 year old hasn’t competed in AEW since May as an injury kept him out of action, but after being cleared, he did appear for the independent promotion SOS on September 9th, losing to Dean Cooper.
Dr. Luther’s tag team partner Serpentico has also been helping to coach matches. The 15 year veteran regularly competes on Dark and Dark Elevation. On the September 19th episode of Dark Elevation, he lost to Mascara Dorada, who was making his All Elite Wrestling debut.
