Former NXT UK Women’s Champion Kay Lee Ray and Kacy Catanzaro could be set to receive new names as WWE continues to ring the changes for many of its stars.
In recent months WWE has undergone a wave of name changes with WALTER becoming Gunther on his arrival to NXT 2.0, Austin Theory simply becoming Theory following his run-in with Steve Austin at WrestleMania, and Marcel Barthel of Imperium becoming Ludwig Kaiser on his arrival with Gunther on SmackDown.
WWE recently filed for trademarks for the names Roxanne Perez, Alba Fyre, Cruz Del Toro, and Katana Chance. Perez is the new moniker for recently signed former ROH Women’s Champion Rok-C, while Del Toro was formerly known as Raul Mendoza in Legado del Fantasma.
Now Mike Johnson of PWinsider has confirmed that Katana Chance is the new name for Kacy Catanzaro while Kay Lee Ray will be known as Alba Fyre going forward. Alba is the Scottish Gaelic name for Ray’s home country of Scotland.
Kay Lee Ray has not competed for NXT 2.0 since losing in the Fatal Four Way Match for the NXT Women’s Championship at Stand & Deliver in early April. The last time Catanzaro has been seen on NXT 2.0 was back in March when she and Kayden Carter were knocked out of the Women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.
