New Match Confirmed For AEW Revolution

AEW Revolution is only eleven days away. With each passing week more matches are added to the card. Prior to the February 22nd edition of Dynamite, the show only had four matches announced.

As of now, however, there are five.

After the opening match between Orange Cassidy and Wheeler Yuta ended, “Absolute” Ricky Starks came out and talked about his longstanding feud with Chris Jericho and the Jericho Appreciation Society (JAS).

Starks tried to move forward by announcing an open challenge for AEW Revolution, which takes place on March 5th. However, before he could accept a new challenger, Chris Jericho came out to confront him, alone.

The two went back and forth on the microphone until Starks made his central claim: that he knew Jericho couldn’t beat him.

Starks was confident that Jericho would try to goad him into accepting a match for Revolution. But Starks was one step ahead of Jericho here; he knew that if he accepted a match with Jericho under Jericho’s terms, then the JAS would interfere on their leader’s behalf.

Eventually, Starks proposed a singles match between the two at Revolution, with the added stipulation that the JAS would be banned from ringside. As the two continued going back and forth and building up anticipation as to whether Jericho would accept, Jericho tried to deflate the moment by saying “I don’t have a pen”.

There was a brief moment of exasperation from everyone in the arena…that is, until Starks pulled a pen out of his jacket pocket and offered it to Jericho.

Then, Jericho made a not-so-subtle reference to his “list” gimmick from many years ago as he built up signing the contract. And then, at last, Jericho made it official: he will face Starks at Revolution and, as he put it in his own words, “the JAS must stay in the back.”

Jericho left Starks with a signed contract and a warning that he would still be victorious at Revolution.

Aside from this newly-announced match, the other four confirmed matches for AEW Revolution are as follows:

  • 60-minute Ironman match for the AEW World Championship: MJF [c] vs. Bryan Danielson
  • Texas Deathmatch: Jon Moxley vs. “Hangman” Adam Page
  • AEW TNT Championship match: Samoa Joe [c] vs. Wardlow
  • Four-way match for the AEW World Tag Team Championships: The Gunns [c] vs. The Acclaimed vs. two more teams TBD (as of this writing)
