New Japan Cup Quarter-finals Revealed: Second Round Results In Full

Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Will Ospreay

All four New Japan Cup quarter-finals have been decided! The second round of the annual tournament has concluded, with some big eliminations.

After the first round saw the shock eliminations of both Kazuchika Okada and Tetsuya Naito, the second round presented huge opportunities for stars that have yet to win the IWGP Heavyweight Championship. With former Heavyweight Champions and New Japan Cup winners still in the field, progressing to the quarter-finals would surely be difficult.

The results for the second round can be found below.

-EVIL def. Jeff Cobb

-Shingo Takagi def. Hirooki Goto

-KENTA def. Minoru Suzuki

-Will Ospreay def. Zack Sabre Jr.

Though getting to the quarter-finals is impressive for anyone, it has been a particularly successful week for David Finlay. After capturing the IMPACT World Tag Team Championships with Juice Robinson, the rising star has now entered the final eight of the tournament. Though not considered a favourite with former IWGP Heavyweight Champions such as EVIL and Jay White also in the mix, this tournament has shown that anything can happen.
