New IWGP Jr. Tag Team Champions Crowned

IWGP Jr. Tag Team title match

Bullet Club has added more tag team gold to its ranks, with the combination of El Phantasmo & Taiji Ishimori claiming the IWGP Jr. Tag Team titles for the second time as a unit.

The Bullet Club combo of ELP & Ishimori bested the now-former champs El Desperado & Yoshinobu Kanemaru in the main event of the January 23rd Road to New Beginning show.

ELP & Ishimori came out on top of the Suzuki-Gun tandem after the now expected Bullet Club shenanigans of an El Phantasmo superkick with the loaded boot, as well as multiple ref bumps throughout the contest.

This loss ended El Desperado & Yoshinobu Kanemaru’s second reign with the belts. Their reign came off the back of winning a tournament for the then-vacant titles back in September, and they had two successful defences before ultimately losing the titles here after 134 days.

The freshly minted IWGP Jr. Tag Team champs will be facing off once more against Suzuki-Gun on February 11th at Night 2 of The New Beginning in Hiroshima, teaming with stablemate, ‘The Tokyo Pimp’ Yujiro Takahashi. They will collide with Minoru Suzuki and former champs; El Desperado & Yoshinobu Kanemaru. If Suzuki-Gun prevails, it is likely a rematch for the former champs will be on the cards.

Both nights of The New Beginning in Hiroshima will be airing live and with English commentary on NJPWworld.
