WWE is just over one week away from the inaugural two-night SummerSlam. Officials have booked several marquee matches for the big event, and shocking spoilers may have been revealed in updated information surfacing this week.
WWE will return to MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ on Saturday, August 2 for Night One of the 38th annual SummerSlam. The final SummerSlam to feature the retiring John Cena will then wrap with Night Two on Sunday, and around 50,000 fans are expected to attend each night. Rapper Cardi B was announced as the hostess.
Heel Cena is set to defend his Undisputed WWE Championship against Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam 2025. In a bit of a surprise, Cody has been the favorite (-250 vs. +170) to dethrone Big Match John, but BetOnline reports that the odds shifted more in his favor with the recent Street Fight stipulation announcement, and now Cody (-400) has an 80% likelihood of beating Cena (+250) at The Biggest Party of The Summer.
A new World Heavyweight Champion is also rumored to be crowned at SummerSlam, in addition to several other major happenings. CM Punk (-275) is the favorite to dethrone Gunther (+185), and with a minor odds shift this week, Punk now has a 73.3% likelihood of winning his first WWE title in over a decade. Another shift saw Jade Cargill (-700) become the strong favorite beat Tiffany Stratton (+400) and leave MetLife Stadium with the WWE Women’s Championship, as current odds give her an 87.5% chance.
In the SummerSlam title matches for secondary championships, AJ Styles (-450) has an 81.8% likelihood of dethroning Dominik Mysterio (+275) of the Intercontinental Championship. The Women’s Intercontinental Championship is also expected to change hands with Lyra Valkyria (-400) defeating Becky Lynch (+250). After the No DQ & No Countout Last Chance stipulation was added this week, the shift gave the inaugural champion an 80% likelihood of becoming a two-time champion, but if she loses, Valkyria can no longer challenge for the title while The Man is champion.
SummerSlam is set to feature at least two big tag team bouts. Randy Orton and Jelly Roll (-500) remain the favorites, and currently have an 83.3% likelihood of defeating Logan Paul and Drew McIntyre (+300). It was reported earlier that Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss are expected to become Women’s Tag Team Champions at SummerSlam. The updated odds have Flair and Bliss (-600) capturing the gold from Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez (+350), with an 85.7% likelihood.
WWE Superstars Expected To Retain At SummerSlam
WWE SummerSlam looks to feature Naomi’s first defense of the Women’s World Championship since cashing in Money In the Bank at Evolution to dethrone IYO SKY in the Triple Threat with Rhea Ripley. According to updated odds information from BetOnline, The Cautionary Tale (-1000) remains the favorite to retain her title over SKY (+600) and Ripley (+300), now with an 83.3% likelihood of staying champion.
Like his real-life family member, Solo Sikoa (-140) is expected to retain over Jacob Fatu (+100) at SummerSlam. The MFT leader will defend the United States Championship inside a Steel Cage, and has a 58.3% likelihood of keeping the gold.
WWE has not confirmed matches for Night One and Night Two as of this writing, and the card will be updated shortly. However, a previous plan had Gunther vs. CM Punk closing Night One, and John Cena vs. Cody Rhodes serving as the overall main event.
