This most recent full-time member of AEW Dynamite recently brought up their WWE firing in a passionate promo.
Bryan Danielson was officially added by AEW President & CEO Tony Khan to the commentary team for Wednesday nights, starting last week. He has been in the booth with Excalibur, TAZ, and Tony Schiavone for a couple of weeks prior to the official announcement by the promotion’s top boss.
Now that he’s a full-time AEW Dynamite commentator, Danielson can no longer put his hands on a wrestler nor step into the squared circle, as Excalibur revealed earlier on the show.
When this week’s episode went off the air, The American Dragon entered the 2300 Arena ring and cut a promo. He reminisced about the time he got fired by WWE in 2010 due to displaying too much violence during a segment.
It can be remembered that he was part of the original Nexus who destroyed John Cena and the entire ring and crew, but got too aggressive when he strangled Justin Roberts with his own tie.
The American Dragon disclosed that while away from WWE, he had one of his greatest matches at that time against Shingo Takagi, which took place at the 2300 Arena (fka ECW Arena) in Philadelphia.
“The last time I was in this building was 15 years ago after I got fired by WWE because what that time got me, was I got to stand in this ring and go toe-to-toe with Shingo Takagi in what was at that point, one of the greatest matches in my career and that’s because of the fans in this building. You have given so many special moments to so many wrestlers,” Danielson emotionally said.

For context, Danielson defeated Takagi (then named as SHINGO) at the Enter the Dragon 2010 event for Dragon Gate USA on July 24, 2010, in the same building.
Bryan Danielson Entertained the Idea of Philadelphia Hosting AEW All In
Prior to his emotional promo, Bryan Danielson rambled a thought to President & CEO Tony Khan about bringing All In to The City of Brotherly Love, since they have the Lincoln Financial Field to use.

Before ending his speech, The American Dragon asked Philadelphia if they wanted the Jacksonville-based promotion back in their city, with the crowd responding to a resounding “yes.”
