New footage has emerged showing that the jump that spawned a million Vince McMahon memes nearly went very wrong.
On the June 17th edition of WWE Raw, Vince McMahon made a surprise appearance on the show. He made his way to the ring to cheers from fans in attendance. In the ring, he hyped the return of John Cena ahead of the 16-time World Champion’s return to the red brand on June 27th where he celebrated the 20th anniversary of his main roster debut.
To emphasise his carefree demeanour, as McMahon left the ring, he did a little hop, skip and jump down the ring steps. Naturally, this moment of internet comedy gold couldn’t be left to pass without comment and within hours, memes featuring McMahon swept social media.
Now, new footage has emerged of the jump on social media showing things weren’t as smooth as they appeared as Vince McMahon struggled to get out of the ring and nearly fell when his foot got caught on the middle rope. However, he was able to right himself and jump down before shaking hands with fans at ringside.

Vince McMahon is currently under investigation by the WWE board over an alleged “hush payment’ given to a former employee with whom he had an affair. The payment is believed to have been worth $3 million, while older claims also involving John Laurinaitis, are being investigated.
In the meantime, Stephanie McMahon has taken on his responsibilities, acting as the interim CEO and Chairwoman of WWE while the investigation is carried out.
