New Footage Reveals Malcolm Bivens Appearing On SmackDown In 2004

New footage has emerged from a 2004 episode of SmackDown that shows current NXT star Malcolm Bivens making his unlikely WWE television debut.

Malcolm Bivens is on the road to greatness in NXT with his Diamond Mine stable but things could have turned out very differently for Bivens if he didn’t have a brush with greatness on SmackDown in 2004.

Bivens was appearing on WWE’s The Bump when they showed footage from the 1st of July 2004 edition of SmackDown which showed the man some know as Stokely Hathaway excitedly shaking hands with JBL. The moment was significant as JBL was making his way to the ring as WWE Champion for the first time after winning the title from Eddie Guerrero at The Great American Bash.

The ‘Wrestling God’ held the title for 280 days and at the time called himself the longest-reigning WWE Champion in SmackDown history. JBL lost his title against another man that made something of an impact in the wrestling world, John Cena, at WrestleMania 21.

Discussing his moment with JBL from 17 years ago, Malcolm Bivens said:

“It did [set Bivens up for greatness]. Also, that was a big-ass camera that I had. I think that was a Panasonic but yes, at that time I was a big fan of JBL, still am, The Cabinet. That was my jam. That was my jam. Orlando Jordan, The Basham Brothers. Man, I remember that show vividly. Yeah, I had the time of my life. I think I was, I don’t want to date myself. I think I was 16- 17 years old. Yeah, and I slipped him a business card on the low, y’all didn’t see it. You know, I was broke back then, so I just wrote on a piece of paper.”

While JBL had his cabinet, Malcolm Bivens is making waves as part of NXT 2.0 with his Diamond Mine comprised of Ivy Nile, Hachiman, The Creed Brothers, and NXT Cruiserweight Champion, Roderick Strong.

It will be all or nothing for Strong at NXT New Year’s Evil as the former Undisputed Era member’s title will be unified with the NXT North American Title in a match that pits Strong against Carmelo Hayes.
