The date for AEW Dynamite’s move from their current home on TNT to TBS has now been revealed. Rampage will now remain on TNT.
News of the move was originally announced in May following TBS and TNT’s parent company, WarnerMedia, acquiring the rights to air NHL games live. Now, WarnerMedia has revealed that Dynamite will begin airing on TBS on January 5th, 2022, while Rampage, which was originally slated to move to the channel alongside Dynamite, will continue to air on TNT on Fridays.
The company also noted that Dynamite has been delivering its best ratings since launching in October 2019, and has had its strongest quarterly average ever in both total viewers the coveted 18-49 demographic. The show has been the number one cable program on Wednesdays in the 18-49 demographic for four weeks in a row. They also touted the success of Rampage as the show’s second episode, featuring CM Punk’s return to wrestling after a seven-year absence, garnered the strongest ratings for the AEW franchise since the debut of Dynamite.
When news of the move first broke earlier in the year, AEW President Tony Khan also announced that TNT would become host to four supercard specials annually which he compared to older wrestling shows “like Clash of the Champions, Saturday Night’s Main Event, The Main Event, Battle of the Belts”.
More recently, it has been reported that AEW will introduce a secondary women’s championship which will be known as the TBS Championship.
