Chelsea Green Teases Return To Former Gimmick

Chelsea Green

Chelsea Green has released some new merchandise suggesting she might be returning to a former gimmick following her departure from WWE.

Green previously portrayed the ‘Hot Mess’ Laurel Van Ness in IMPACT Wrestling. The ‘Hot Mess’ aspect of her character developed after she was rejected at the altar by Braxton Sutter – now known at The Blade in AEW. Green began acting maniacally and continued to wear her wedding dress that appeared more trashed every week. She also smeared makeup over her face to add to the effect, while wrestling barefoot.

Green left IMPACT in January 2018, a brief stop in Lucha Underground as Reklusa then followed before signing with WWE in August. On April 15th, 2021, Green was among a host WWE Superstars released from their contracts.

Chelsea Green took to social media afterward, hinting at a return of the ‘Hot Mess’ character. She posted a photo of herself in the trademark makeup with the caption “Welcome back, it’s been a while.”

Since then Green’s fiancé Matt Cardona – whom himself was released from WWE on the same date in 2020 has posted an image of Green’s new t-shirt.

Thie shirt bears an image of Green with half her face smeared with makeup. The caption underneath says “Hot Mess I’m Back!”

Chelsea Green also followed up yesterday’s news with a statement of intent to what she would like to do going forward:

“I received so many amazing words yesterday. It fuelled my fire to wake up this morning & get to work I’ve got an amazing support system here in the US and @TheMattCardona in my corner, so I’m a lucky girl. Now, LETS GET THIS PODCAST GOING! Lord knows I thrive at talking!!”

Green had tweeted previously about starting a podcast but there is no word if anything is officially in the pipeline. Matt Cardona hosts the Major Wrestling Figure Podcast with IMPACT star and longtime partner Brian Myers.
