Moustache Mountain are no longer the NXT UK Tag Team Champions, as they were dethroned by Ashton Smith and Oliver Carter at the latest NXT UK tapings.
WWE’s United Kingdom branch was back in London’s BT Sport Studios this week, taping further episodes of NXT UK. One of the featured matches saw Moustache Mountain defend the brand’s Tag Team Championships against Ashton Smith and Oliver Carter, and Die Familie’s Charlie Dempsey and Rohan Raja.
According to reports from Wrestling Inc., Smith and Carter were crowned the new champions, ending Trent Seven and Tyler Bate‘s reign at 155 days. With this win, the duo became the sixth NXT UK Tag Team Champions in brand history, marking the first WWE championship reign for both Superstars.
Both Ashton Smith and Oliver Carter are tenured NXT UK roster members, with Smith joining the roster following his participation in the 2018 United Kingdom Championship Tournament, while Carter has been affiliated with the company since April 2019. The duo first teamed together on 24 October 2019, losing to The Grizzled Young Veterans.
Their victory of the Tag Team Championships came in their third attempt, following two previous unsuccessful attempts at prying the titles away from Trent Seven and Tyler Bate. The second of those came as recent as this week, as on an episode aired 21 April, the Moustache Mountain duo were victorious over Smith and Carter in a Two out of Three Falls match.
These NXT UK tapings could begin airing as early as next week, with a total of 27 matches taped for future broadcast. Among those were the previously announced defences of the NXT United Kingdom and NXT UK Women’s Championships by Ilja Dragunov and Meiko Satomura’s against Jordan Devlin and Isla Dawn, respectively.
