The latest set of IMPACT Wrestling tapings saw a new name get their hands on championship gold.

On January 21st, the latest set of IMPACT Wrestling tapings took place as preparations for No Surrender on February 19th begin to gather pace.

After the Ring of Honor Five invaded IMPACT at Hard To Kill they have continued to make their presence felt. The group made up of Maria Kanellis-Bennett, Mike Bennett, Matt Taven, PCO and Vincent have caused chaos, but an end now appears to be in sight.

At the tapings Scott D’Amore announced a match between the faction and a team dubbed the IMPACT Five will take place at No Surrender. If the invaders from ROH are victorious, they will be allowed to stay in the promotion. The identity of IMPACT representatives is currently unknown.

The show also saw a title change as “ECW Television Champion” Matt Cardona added another prize to his collection. The former WWE Superstar defeated Jordynne Grace to become Digital Media Champion. Grace became the inaugural champion at Bound For Glory in October 2021. She successfully defended the title four times before being beaten by Cardona.

One of the biggest stories surrounding IMPACT in recent weeks has been ‘Forbidden Door’ wanderings of Knockouts Champion Mickie James. On a recent episode of Friday Night SmackDown it was announced that James would be returning to WWE for one night to take part in the Royal Rumble.

James’ return also comes less than a year after she was released by the company, with her belongings later returned to her in a trash bag. Speaking in a recent interview addressing the manor of her WWE release, James said that she held no resentment towards the company for how everything played out.
