New Champion Crowned In NXT UK

NXT UK

A new champion was crowned on the latest episode of NXT UK.

On the June 30th episode of NXT UK, Noam Dar’s partner Sha Samuels bet that Dar could defeat Mark Coffey in a championship rematch, setting up a title bout for the July 14th edition of NXT UK. Dar and Coffey faced off for the first time on March 31st with Dar retaining the Heritage Cup with the Nova Roller after interference from Sha Samuels.

As usual for NXT UK Heritage Cup matches, the encounter was contested under British Rounds rules. Mark Coffey took an early advantage making Dar tap out with a cross-face mere seconds into the second round. Dar would tie the score submitting Coffey with the Champagne Super Kneebar in Round 4.

The encounter would come to an end in the sixth and final round with Dar trying to waste time and let the clock run out of time, only for Coffey to pin Dar after a Uranage and a sliding forearm strike with just about 10 seconds left in the clock.

After the match, Sha Samuels came to ramp sobbing after losing money on his bet while the rest of the roster tried to collect their winnings from him.

Also after the match, Joe Coffey made his return after taking time off on May 12th, to celebrate his brother’s first singles title win with him.

With this championship victory Mark Coffey has become only the fourth ever Heritage Cup champion and the second person ever to hold both the NXT UK tag team championship and the Heritage Cup alongside Tyler Bate.
