The AEW World Championship is set to receive a refresh once again in 2024.

Back in November 2023, following his victory at Full Gear, MJF and William Regal unveiled the Triple B, a World Championship with a Burberry-inspired strap. This was the first time the promotion unveiled a custom title and like most custom championships divided opinions.

Fast forward to Worlds End and Samoa Joe would defeat MJF to end the reign that lasted over a year. Speaking at the press conference following the victory, Joe confirmed that the Triple B would be disposed of:

“This [Triple B AEW World Title] is going in the garbage, don’t worry about that. This trash right here, this little knockoff, BS Gucci stuff that he has going on, this is going away. We’re getting the good belt, the right belt, something that is designed well. I’ve spoken with Tony intensively about it and we’re very much looking forward to it. We have a whole new era we’re starting,”

As reported by Fightful Select, the new title won’t be completely redesigned but there have been some alterations. The report confirms that AEW will be reverting back to the black background and there will be side plate options, similar to the custom championship that Tony Khan presented to the Clemson Tigers football team.

On social media, the following design has been circulating which is the same image that is seen in the Fightful Select report:

One of the first men to put his name in the hat for a shot at the new title is HOOK, who recently put Samoa Joe on notice on the January 6th edition of Collision.

Multiple Title Changes Take Place At AEW Worlds End

Worlds End saw AEW cap off an extremely mixed year for the promotion. Along with Samoa Joe dethroning MJF in the main event, the TNT Championship changed hands twice on the show. In a no disqualification match that featured tables, ladder, chairs and even fire, Adam Copeland would defeat Christian Cage to capture the TNT Championship for the first time in his career. The celebrations would be extremely short-lived as Killswitch, who won an opportunity at the title on the pre-show, gifted his title shot to Cage, who quickly defeated Copeland to regain his prized championship.
