The new AEW Trios Champions have been crowned.
On the July 13th edition of Collision, The Bang Bang Gang were stripped of the AEW Trios Titles due to Jay White being unable to compete.
While The Gunns attempted to bring Juice Robinson in to replace their injured leader under the Freebird rule, Christopher Daniels refused to allow it. Instead, the titles were vacated with the new champions to be crowned when The Gunns and Robinson met The Patriarchy’s Christian Cage, Killswitch and Nick Wayne the following week.
On July 20th, The Patriarchy overcame the BBG after Mother Wayne jumped up on the apron and sprayed something in Robinson’s Eyes, allowing Cage to hit the Killswitch for the victory.
Cage celebrated in characteristic style, holding up the belts himself after being hoisted onto Killswitch’s shoulders. The lights flickered as the group celebrated, possibly hinting that the House of Black might be coming to reclaim the titles.
Christian Cage Will Be In AEW For Years To Come
Recently, Christian Cage revealed how long is left on his AEW contract, saying he will be in the company for at least the next three years. Beyond that, the veteran star says he wants to use his vast knowledge of wrestling to give back to the business.
“But you know, I feel like, I have a lot of knowledge. I feel like I don’t know everything, but I know a lot. And I feel like, I think the business differently and I layout matches and I see matches differently than other people do. I would like to, at some point, when the time is right to obviously give back to the business that has done what it’s done for me.”
