In an update on the injury suffered by Natalya on the July 26th episode of RAW, the Women’s Tag Team Champion looks set to miss only a “few weeks” of action.
The third generation Superstar limped out of a match which saw the champions taking on Eva Marie and Doudrop. The self-proclaimed ‘Best Of All Time’ appeared to succumb to the injury early on while tangling with Doudrop. After kicking out of a cradle, Natalya immediately favoured her ankle before quickly tagging out.
As the match continued, the Canadian Superstar was seen being tended to by a trainer outside the ring, before being helped to the back as the match came to an end.
Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer has now provided an update on the injury. While it was initially feared that Natalya would be out for an extended period, things now appear to be much more positive.
Meltzer notes that the Canadian Superstar now may only miss a “few weeks.”
“Natalya suffered a right ankle injury on the 7/26 Raw show. It was during a cradle spot with Doudrop that her ankle got caught under Doudrop’s weight. She got an MRI after the match. Evidently the results were better than expected as we were told she’s only expected out for a few weeks, so they also may not strip her and Tamina of the tag team titles which would be necessary if she needed surgery.”
Following the injury Natalya later took to social media to thank her fans for their well wishes.
“Thank you to everyone for the kind words about what happened on #WWERaw. There are the beatings you can plan for, and the ones you can’t. That’s the job. But I’m willing to give whatever bones, muscles and tendons I have to continue doing what I love. Good thing I’m UNBREAKABLE.”
Natalya began teaming with Tamina at the tail end of 2020. The two women eventually worked themselves into Tag Team Title contention, winning the gold on SmackDown in May.
