Naomi shared her tough journey following her WWE walkout from a few years ago.
The Glow has had an eventful road to the top of the women’s roster in WWE. In 2022, she made headlines after walking out of the company with the former Sasha Banks (now Mercedes Mone), due to creative differences. The duo left while holding the company’s Women’s Tag Team Champion at the time.
After a brief TNA run as Trinity Fatu in 2023, Naomi returned to the Stamford-based promotion last year and has since won the Women’s Tag Team Titles alongside Bianca Belair, turned heel, and then won the Money in the Bank contract and cashed it in on IYO SKY during Evolution 2 for the Women’s World Championship.
Her success has definitely been well-earned, especially due to the challenges she also had to endure during the difficult years.
Naomi Wanted To Prove Herself Outside Of Wrestling For Her Family
In the latest episode of What’s Your Story? With Stephanie McMahon with Naomi, and Jimmy Uso as the guests, the Women’s World Champion discussed her journey after walking out of WWE and noted that it was the first time in her life that she quit something, and she didn’t like the feeling.
The RAW star noted that she wanted to make her parents proud, as well as give her stepchildren a better ending and story. She also added that she wanted to keep pushing and fighting to be accomplished outside of wrestling as well:
I have never quit anything in my life. And I didn’t like the feeling of that, and also I wanted to make my parents proud. I have step kids, you know, I wanted, I wanted a better ending for them, for all the work I put in, for my story, for legacy, for everything… I think like the beautiful part of it was me fighting through that and pushing through that and wanting to prove that there’s there’s more for me to do and accomplish, not just in wrestling, but just as a woman and someone who’s growing and going through, like, a difficult time and a transition in life.”
