Former SmackDown Women’s Champion Naomi is back on the blue brand, not that her big return went to plan.
It was initially reported back in July that Naomi had been quietly moved back to SmackDown, but it wasn’t until August 27th that she appeared on screen. Joining Sonya Deville in a backstage segment, the former champion expressed her excitement at being back on SmackDown. However, that excitement wasn’t shared by Deville.
The WWE authority figure seemed preoccupied with her phone before saying that she didn’t know anything about Naomi joining SmackDown. She openly questioned whether Naomi could measure up on the blue brand wondering whether Adam Pearce had done the deal behind her back.
Deville said that she would deal with the returning star next week.
Speaking in a backstage interview after the incident, the two-time SmackDown Women’s Champion said that she had nothing to prove.
The WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal winner was last in action in the Women’s Money In The Bank Ladder Match in July. Prior to that, Naomi had been teaming with Lana through the early part of the year on RAW in a quest for tag team gold. The team was broken up when Lana was released in June.
