MVP Responds To Recent Chris Jericho Confrontation Allegations

MVP has taken a jab at the dirt sheets for incorrectly reporting on his and Chris Jericho’s hotel confrontation following an AEW Dynamite broadcast.

AEW Dynamite’s 18 May broadcast from Houston was an overall solid episode. Adam Page and Konosuke Takeshita enjoyed a spectacular match, while Johnny Elite and Maki Itoh both came to All Elite Wrestling as part of the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament.

Away from the episode itself, a hotel altercation between Chris Jericho, Matt Hardy, and MVP allegedly saw a non-violent incident that saw Jericho leave the scene in an elevator after referring to MVP as a “jobber”. The story was confirmed in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

MVP has now responded to these reports, seemingly slamming the “dirt sheets” for their inaccurate reporting. He tweeted this afternoon:

“Even when they get the story right, they get the details wrong. Gotta love the dirt sheets [side-eye emoji]).”

The reports noted that Chris Jericho was in a Houston hotel alongside Matt Hardy, with their former colleague showing up at around 1am local time. What, exactly, happened from that point onwards remains a mystery, though this is hardly the first time MVP and Jericho have butted heads.

The duo spent several years working together in WWE, during which time they contested four singles matches together. ‘The Demo God’ is currently 3-1 up on the former United States Champion, with his only loss coming on a September 2009 Raw broadcast.

Montel Vontavious Porter currently serves as the manager to Omos, having resumed a full-time gig with WWE in 2020 alongside Bobby Lashley (and later The Hurt Business). Chris Jericho, meanwhile, is contracted to All Elite Wrestling, where he’s due to have a Hair vs. Hair match with Oritz on next week’s Road Rager special of Dynamite.
