MVP has detailed scrapped plans for The Hurt Business in WWE that were pitched to them by “the old man.”
Forming during the pandemic era in 2020, Bobby Lashley, Shelton Benjamin, Cedric Alexander and MVP officially introduced themselves as The Hurt Business. A dominant force on Monday Night Raw, the group became one of the highlights of the no fans era with Lashley, Alexander and Benjamin all holding gold while in the faction.
Although fans loved the presentation of the group and believed that they were broken up far too soon, The Hurt Business could have gone in a different direction. In a since-deleted post on social media, MVP stated that a certain higher-up wanted to transform The Hurt Business into a new version of The Nation of Domination, which the group were not happy about:
There was a moment during the “PC Era” when the old man wanted to turn “The Hurt Business” into NOD 2.0. He even brought in Mark & Ron. We fought him on it. Our group was NEVER about RACE. It’s always been about our organic friendship and desire to make money doing what we love!
MVP Addresses Lack Of Hurt Business Reunion
Following the resignation of Vince McMahon and the appointment of Triple H as head of creative, there was speculation that the group could reunite given that there was more to tell with the story. When asked for a reason as to why The Hurt Business never returned, MVP said the following:
Always avoided the conversation.
MVP has since reunited with Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin in AEW to form The Hurt Syndicate. Lashley will make his in-ring debut for the promotion against Shelton Benjamin at Full Gear.
In previous comments, there were claims that Triple H refused to revive The Hurt Business.
