Mustafa Ali has given his thoughts on potentially appearing at the Royal Rumble, while also giving an update on his request to be released.
On January 16th Mustafa Ali posted a video on social media revealing that he had requested his release from WWE. The star had been absent from television for a number of months, and it was unclear as to when he would be returning. While it was initially suggested that his absence had been related to paternity leave, it was later revealed that Ali only asked to miss one show.
In the clip, Ali said that he felt he wouldn’t be able to fulfil his ambitions while working for WWE.
“I have a message that is much bigger than my dreams in pro wrestling.
“Despite my best efforts, I will not be able to deliver this message while working with WWE.
“Therefore, I am requesting my release from WWE.”
Fightful Select later reported that Ali will not be leaving the company anytime soon. Although many had expected Ali’s request to be granted, after the two sides discussed the issue, the SmackDown star was informed that his request wouldn’t be granted. It was also noted that Ali’s deal has multiple years remaining.
With the Royal Rumble on the horizon, fans have asked whether the SmackDown Superstar will be a part of the 30-man spectacular. Ali has addressed this with a short tweet saying he doesn’t want to be in the bout, adding that he still wants to be released from his contract.
no, i would not like to be in rumble. i would like my release.
