Mustafa Ali was not completely caught off-guard by his release from WWE.
The former WWE Cruiserweight Champion was one of several unfortunate cuts on September 21 and Mustafa Ali took to social media to notify fans that he was no longer with the company and signing off under his real name, Adeel Alam.
Ali expressed an excitement for what the future holds for him and a new report from Haus Of Wrestling can indicate why. A source from WWE told him that they believed the policer officer turned pro wrestler was “never going to get a chance to shine” in WWE. This is despite him garnering a good reputation as being a consummate professional with an upbeat attitude, even though you could certainly tell he was not happy with his position in the company.
What Could Possibly Be The Reason For The Release Of Mustafa Ali?
Haus of Wrestling continues with their report, noting that a possible reason for his exit is due to the polarizing political vignette that recently aired on NXT. Some in WWE reportedly “freaked out” once seeing the promo as Fox expressed a concern for Ali running with that type of angle, something NXT wanted to give him a shot with. Shawn Michaels was actually a big advocate for bringing Ali into the brand. However, the angle was quickly dropped afterwards.
WWE creative had plans for Ali as recent as WWE Raw, where he was in the works to be involved with Rey Mysterio’s United States Title defense against Dragon Lee. Ali has joined a list of Dolph Ziggler, Shelton Benjamin, Emma, Riddick Moss and others to be released on Thursday.
