Mustafa Ali has failed to reach his full potential in WWE – could his latest cryptic tweet hint at why that is?
During Vince McMahon’s decades of steering the WWE ship, a common criticism directed his way was that he failed to properly utilise certain WWE Superstars. While he eventually turned some of those wrongs into rights, not everyone had the same luxury – Mustafa Ali can vouch for that.
Having been under WWE contract since participating in the 2016 Cruiserweight Classic, Ali is yet to taste WWE gold. He’s come close, very nearly capturing both the Cruiserweight and United States Championships, but Mustafa has forever been the nearly man during his WWE tenure.
When a fan quote-tweeted him, pondering why WWE had constantly held back on Mustafa Ali, he replied with a rather cryptic message. He supposedly knows why, and has promised to “knock that sh*t down”.
i know why. and I’ll knock that shit down too. https://t.co/cSTbsgz03Q

Mustafa Ali publicly requested his release from WWE on 16 January, a request that would go on to be denied. Though he’s since returned to WWE programming, Ali hasn’t been used any differently with Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque leading the creative charge – in fact, he’s worked televised matches just twice since the change, losing both.
It had previously been reported that Ali was the planned winner of the 2019 Money in the Bank Ladder match prior to Brock Lesnar’s victory. Ali told Alex McCarthy that plans changed after entrances for the match had begun, with then-WWE Chairman Vince McMahon breaking the news to Ali that he was no longer being pushed as the winner.
