Multiple WWE Stars Have Undergone Name Changes

Multiple WWE stars including Seth Rollins have undergone presentation changes as a result of recent updates.

Although The Visionary has previously introduced himself as Seth “Freakin” Rollins and was also referenced on commentary, fans recently noticed that on WWE’s website the former World Champion was now simply Seth Rollins. Shortly afterwards, it was noticed that more members of the roster had their nicknames removed as “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio is now just Dominik Mysterio and “Big” Bronson Reed is simply Bronson Reed.

Although there has been no follow-up as to why the monikers have been removed, many fans online have been welcoming of the change, noting that the change is not needed. Both Mysterio and Reed were given their respective nicknames in 2023, a part of the Vince McMahon era.

While Mysterio has been a regular part of Raw, Reed has been off TV since November as he suffered a broken ankle at Survivor Series after diving off the WarGames cage. A recent report provided an update on the absent WWE star.

Seth Rollins Reveals Origins Of WWE Nickname

During an interview at the start of the year, Rollins spoke with Chris Van Vliet about the origins of his various nicknames over the years, which the Raw star noted were from the mind of Vince McMahon. In the interview, Rollins recalled pushing back on the “freakin'” nickname being used so much

“I give that credit to the old man. The middle name was his idea back in the day. I don’t remember why. I don’t remember how it came about. I think he was just bored with Seth Rollins and he was like ah, you’ll be Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins again. Okay, cool. Sold a lot of T shirts when we did it, so whatever.

The thing that killed me was when we first did it, when we first brought the ‘freakin’’ back in. Because it was just like The ‘Monday Night Messiah’ Seth Rollins or whatever, for a while. And then there was the ‘Drip God’, which was never my idea. I didn’t like that nickname at all. I tried to push ‘The Visionary’ on him, and he didn’t get that character at all, and then added ‘freakin’’ in there at some point. But then everybody had to say ‘freakin’’ every single time they mentioned my name on commentary, anywhere.

The first thing I did when I had the opportunity was let’s just pull back on that, how about I just say it? If someone’s introducing me in a grandiose manner, they can say it. But if they’re just talking about me they could just say Seth Rollins, it’s okay. You don’t have to say ‘The Tribal Chief’ Roman Reigns all the time. No one said ‘The Hitman’ Bret Hart all the time.”
