Shawn Michaels has only wrestled once since March 2010 and insists he’s happily retired, but that hasn’t stopped the offers for one more match coming his way.
The WWE Hall of Famer last stepped into the ring in November 2018 when he teamed with Triple H to take on The Undertaker and Kane at WWE Crown Jewel. The match was widely panned by fans and critics, and even Michaels himself has admitted that it shouldn’t have taken place.
That bout ended a retirement that began following WrestleMania 26 and the second of his legendary WrestleMania matches with The Undertaker.
For years there have been rumours that a number of WWE stars have tried to get the legend to come out of retirement. One of these reports back in December revealed that Kevin Owens had spoken to HBK following the success of his WrestleMania 38 match with Steve Austin.
Speaking in a new interview with Alex McCarthy, Michaels has now confirmed these reports to be true, including the one involving Owens. The veteran also named AJ Styles, Johnny Gargano and Adam Cole as stars who have tried and failed to get him to make a comeback.
“I asked him who has tried the hardest to get him out of retirement… he said Kevin Owens made an attempt during his last appearances in NXT. Also named AJ Styles, Johnny Gargano, Adam Cole among others.”
Shawn Michaels Currently Feuding With Grayson Waller
Grayson Waller has spent weeks targeting Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative Shawn Michaels, seemingly trying to goad him into a match. During an appearance on the Grayson Waller Effect at Roadblock, Michaels passed up the opportinuty to fight Waller, instead introducing Johnny Gargano.
The former NXT Champion has a great deal of unfinished business with Waller who left him laying during his last night with NXT back in December 2021.
It was confirmed that the two will meet in the ring at Stand & Deliver on April 1st.
