A new report has claimed that there will be more than one return on the upcoming double Friday Night SmackDown taping.
With Clash At The Castle just around the corner on September 3rd, on-screen preparations for the event are in full swing. This coupled with WWE’s new management regime revamping WWE programming and reshaping the main roster, it is an exciting time to be a WWE fan.
Due to Cash At The Castle being held in Cardiff, Wales, WWE will be taping two episode of SmackDown in Detroit on August 26th. A new report has now given a hint at what could be in store.
The report from Fightful Select notes that the tapings will see the return of Xavier Woods who has missed a number of weeks following an attack from the Viking Raiders. At time of writing, Woods is scheduled to be back at the tapings and appear on the August 26th episode of the blue brand.
In addition, the report states that WWE Hall of Famer John “Bradshaw” Layfield will be involved in the tapings in some capacity. Although there are currently no details available on what JBL will be doing, or on which of the shows he will be appearing.
Bradshaw was something of a mainstay on the blue brand throughout the mid-2000’s enjoying a lengthy run with the WWE Championship. Following his in-ring retirement in 2009, the star initially appeared as a commentator, while more recently he features regularly on WWE’s pre-show panels.
The news comes after fellow Hall of Famer Trish Stratus appeared on the most recent episode of Monday Night Raw in Toronto, and it was announced that Kurt Angle will be appearing on August 29th.
