Following the news that Seth Rollins has tested positive for COVID-19, numerous NXT Superstars have also reportedly tested positive.
It has been something of a whirlwind 24-hours for WWE with their traditional Boxing Day show at Madison Square Garden undergoing numerous last-minute changes and the news that Seth Rollins has tested positive for COVID-19.
In addition, it has now been reported that multiple NXT Superstars have also tested positive. Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer notes that numerous stars tested positive for COVID-19 during in weekly Monday testing. Although no names have been confirmed, it has also been suggested that there were main roster talents who have also tested positive.
“While no wrestlers have been announced as having tested positive, it is known that a number of NXT wrestlers tested positive in the weekly Monday testing. In addition, there have been main roster talents who have also tested positive.”
On December 26th it was reported that Edge was “rushed” to Madison Square Garden after a number of Superstars were pulled from the show. WWE’s card in Tampa which featured SmackDown Superstars was also affected.
In New York, Big E, Bianca Belair, Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins were removed from the card despite being advertised to appear on the show. Rollins then confirmed that he had tested positive.
The news has sparked speculation that WWE’s upcoming Day 1 pay-per-view could see significant upheaval, given that it is less than a week away. At the event, Seth Rollins is scheduled to challenge for Big E’s WWE Championship, while his wife Becky Lynch is slated to defend her Raw Women’s Championship against Liv Morgan.
