WWE have announced that the August 3rd edition of NXT will be headlined by a Love Her Or Lose Her Match between Johnny Gargano and Dexter Lumis.
The stipulation being that if Gargano wins Lumis will no longer be allowed to pursue Indi Hartwell, but if he loses, Lumis will be free to date the apple of his eye. In recent months Hartwell has become increasingly infatuated with Lumis and received a drawing from her admirer on the latest episode of NXT. The drawing showed Lumis and Hartwell together as members of The Way.
Garagano and Candice LeRae have become ever more frustrated with the situation in recent months. This led to Hartwell proposing the match for August 3rd.
The match will be joined by a showdown between Roderick Strong and Bobby Fish. After the break up of the Undisputed ERA both men went their separate ways, with Fish on the side-lines. After Strong disappeared for a number of months he finally returned on June 22nd as part of The Diamond Mine.
Elsewhere on the show, Hit Row will take on Legado del Fantasma and Trey Baxter and Joe Gacy will square off in the NXT Breakout Tournament.
July 27th also saw Samoa Joe announce his in-ring return.
The former NXT Champion initially returned to the black and gold brand on June 15th after being released by WWE in April.
After returning to NXT, Joe appeared as General Manager William Regal’s enforcer. Regal had initially looked to be stepping down from his role until Joe arrived to make sure the GM “got the respect he deserves.”
In the weeks that followed, Joe frequently clashed with Karrion Kross. On the July 13th episode of the show Joe served as the special guest referee for the NXT Title match between Kross and Johnny Gargano. After winning the match, Kross quickly turned his attention to Joe, choking out the former champion. The following week, Joe sought revenge but Kross instead attacked William Regal, saying he does whatever he wants.
On the most recent episode of NXT, Joe came to the ring to offer his resignation as Regal’s enforcer. But only so that he can have a match with Karrion Kross. Regal, who wanted to fire Kross for his actions, accepted Joe’s resignation and made the match official.
Samoa Joe will face Karrion Kross for the NXT Championship at NXT TakeOver: 36.
