Multiple AEW Stars To Miss Dynamite TBS Debut Due To COVID-19

As AEW Dynamite makes it’s way to TBS for the first time, multiple stars will be missing after testing positive for COVID-19.

On January 5th, AEW Dynamite will make it’s much-publicised move to TBS from it’s traditional home on TNT. The episode will see the company crown their first-ever TBS Champion as Jade Cargill takes on Ruby Soho, while Bryan Danielson and AEW Champion Hangman Adam Page renew hostilities in what is expected to be the main event.

However, it has been reported that multiple stars will not be at the show after testing positive for COVID-19. Writing on Twitter, the Young Buck’s all-new bio announced that Matt Jackson has tested positive for the virus.

Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer has noted that Brandon Cutler is also dealing with COVID-19. As the pair have been in close contract with Nick Jackson, he will also be absent from the show.

Nick Jackson previously contracted COVID-19 in September 2020, with the illness affecting him for the following three months.

Off the back of their 60-minute draw at Winter is Coming, Bryan Danielson will once again challenge for the AEW World Championship on January 5th. Although this time there will be three ring-side judges on hand to declare a winner should the match once again end in a draw. Hangman Adam Page has held the AEW World Championship since defeating Kenny Omega at Full Gear in November.

As well as the bout to decide the the first-ever TBS Champion, the AEW World Tag Team Titles will also be on the line. After a huge 10-man tag team match ended in total chaos the previous week, Jurassic Express challenged Lucha Bros to a battle for the gold.

Elsewhere, Brian Pillman Jr will look to earn some retribution for his friends Griff Garrison and Julia Hart as he takes on Malakai Black.
