A former World Champion and current WWE star has admitted that they would love to take on more movie roles in the future after having great scripts thrown in their direction.
The world’s of acting and professional wrestling have been linked for decades, but following the success of the likes of John Cena and The Rock, it appears that Hollywood is paying more attention to the squared circle.
While WWE veteran Randy Orton has been open about his desire to remain simply being a wrestler, another long-tenured star is looking to broaden their horizons.
Sheamus, who has been with WWE for more than 15 years, recently revealed that he’s looking to Hollywood, not only as a potential new project, but to help extend his in-ring career.
During an appearance on The Five Count, the former World Champion opened up about his grand plan for the future.
“I went to Irish week in LA a couple of weeks ago, it was a lot of fun. Hung out with Chris O’Dowd and a few people in Hollywood. A lot of the scripts are passed around and thrown my direction. Some great scripts, actually. I’m looking at that. I’d still like to do both. I’d love to be able to, to keep it fresh, it’d be great to do acting a couple of months and then back in the ring a couple of months. I like the longevity as well.
I love being in front of the camera, whether it’s promos backstage, in the ring wrestling, or doing movies or TV. It’s a fun job. As long as I can make everything fun in life, that’s the most important thing. If work is fun, it’s not really work at all. I’d definitely like to do more, that goes without saying,”
Sheamus has already dipped his toes into various acting roles, most famously appearing in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows as Rocksteady.
Back in WWE, the Celtic Warrior is currently locked in a feud with the New Day, alongside Butch and Ridge Holland.
