IMPACT Wrestling star Moose has confirmed that he recently turned down the opportunity to sign with WWE.
However, despite the interest Moose later re-singed with IMPACT for a further two years.
It was initially reported in June that the former NFL star had penned a new deal with IMPACT, with the report noting that the deal was a “significant improvement” on his previous agreement.
The IMPACT star also teased a move to NXT, tweeting “I love when you all argue about what my NeXT move is!!”
It was later noted by Fightful Select, that Moose had indeed been subject of interest from WWE.
Speaking in a new appearance on the Mina’s House podcast, Moose has confirmed that he spurred the opportunity to join WWE in favour of remaining with IMPACT.
“Never say never, right?” Moose said when asked about possibly going to WWE. “I’ve had chances to go there and had an opportunity to go there not too long ago, but turned it down to stay with IMPACT. I am staying (with IMPACT). I signed a new deal and I’m staying. I had an opportunity to leave to go to WWE, but I just felt like, right now, IMPACT was better for me with what they offered and the schedule and how I’m being used. We’ll see what happens with WWE in the next couple of years.”
The former ROH star went on to reveal that his new deal will last for two years. That is despite IMPACT offering something more long-term.
Continuing further, Moose detailed the creative freedom he enjoys with his current employers. Adding that it’s something he likely wouldn’t have if he joined WWE.
“I would say at IMPACT Wrestling, you have more creative control than you do elsewhere. There are things that they might tell me I’m going to do and if it makes me look a certain way, I might tell them how much I dislike it and out of respect just not do it or make it better for me, but sometimes that doesn’t always work. It’s 50/50 on creative. I’ve never worked for WWE, but I’ve heard stories. The difference with IMPACT is, you usually know what you’re going to do and you can pitch to them on how to make it different or better. Sometimes they go with it, sometimes they don’t. In WWE, it doesn’t matter what you think or say, they go with (what they want).”
Moose joined IMPACT in 2016 after a two-year stint with Ring Of Honor. Prior to that, the Maryland native enjoyed a spell in the NFL, notably turning out for the Atlanta Falcons and St. Louis Rams.
More recently, Moose challenged Kenny Omega for the IMPACT World Championship at Against All Odds. Moose will return to action when he goes one on one with Chris Sabin at Slammiversary on July 17th.
