On August 23rd, Monday Night RAW pulled in its highest TV rating since January.
The first show after SummerSlam drew in more than two million viewers.
As noted by Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics, an average of 2.067,000 viewers tuned into the red brand. This is the show’s highest rating since RAW ‘Legends Night’ on January 4th.
826,000 of those viewers were in the 18-49 year-old demographic which equated to a 0.64 rating. This was the highest rating in the demographic since April 12th and the first RAW after WrestleMania 37.
The final episode of RAW before SummerSlam pulled in 1.857 million viewers.
The show opened with Damian Priest coming out to challenge Bobby Lashley. This set the table for an impromptu match but the bout was quickly interrupted by Sheamus and then Drew McIntyre. After the chaos settled down a tag match was set, with McIntyre and Priest picking up the win over Lashley and Sheamus.
The episode also saw the break-up of the long-running friendship between John Morrison and The Miz.
Ahead of the show it was announced that Logan Paul would be a guest on Morrison’s talk show, Moist TV. As Paul arrived in the ring both men were met with thunderous boos before Morrison got the interview underway. The segment was quickly interrupted by The Miz who came to seek a share of the spotlight. Miz taunted Logan Paul before Morrison intervened accusing him stealing the limelight.
This escalated into a match between the former WWE Champion and Xavier Woods. Miz’ night swiftly got even worse and Woods emerged victorious. Morrison got back in the ring to console his friend but was ruthlessly attacked and beaten down. Miz finished the job with a Skull Crushing Finale to leave his former friend laying.
In the main event, Riddle hosted a celebration for Randy Orton after their RAW Tag Team Title win at SummerSlam. After Riddle presented his RK-Bro with a new scooter, AJ Styles and Omos came to the ring trying to cause tension between the pair. This led to a match between Riddle and Styles which the Original Bro won. As Riddle and Orton celebrated The Viper dropped Styles with an RKO.
