Molly Holly could be set for a sensational return to WWE after reports surfaced of her trying out for a backstage role at Raw on Monday night.
Holly was announced as the first inductee into the 2021 class of the WWE Hall Of Fame earlier this year. Holly was appearing on WWE’s The Bump alongside her former superhero partner Shane ‘Hurricane’ Helms. An emotional Helms was the one to tell Holly that she was the first announced inductee for this year’s class.
Molly Holly ultimately joined other inductees Rob Van Dam, Kane, The Great Khali, Eric Bischoff, and celebrity inductee Ozzy Osbourne. Holly had noted after the ceremony that she had been upset when her original speech she had written for her induction had to be substantially cut down due to time constraints.
Mike Johnson of PWInsider first reported that Holly was backstage at Raw seemingly for a tryout as a producer for WWE. Many long-time wrestlers make the switch to producing duties following the end of their own careers. Currently, the likes of Hurricane Helms, Tyson Kidd, Jeff Jarrett, and Jason Jordan are among the producers at the company, responsible for overseeing talent and helping put matches together.
Molly Holly began her wrestling career under the tutelage of cruiserweight legend Dean Malenko. She first joined what was then the World Wrestling Federation in 200 after a short stint in WCW. While in the WWF Holly won the Women’s Championship on two occasions as well as memorably winning the WWF Hardcore Championship for a short spell at WrestleMania X8.
Holly famously lost a title match at WrestleMania XX in 2004 that saw her have her head shaved bald in front of the packed crowd at Madison Square Garden. Her last appearance in a WWE ring came at the women’s Royal Rumble match in 2020. Holly made a surprise appearance as the number three entrant and lasting over ten minutes before being eliminated by Bianca Belair.
