Major League Wrestling continue their run of strong signings ahead of their return to production, otherwise known as #TheRestart. Their most recent acquisition comes in the form of former WWE NXT Cruiserweight Champion Lio Rush, who remains a free agent post his WWE release.
Rush, who was announced as part of New Japan’s Super J Cup earlier in the week, will be a part of MLW’s flagship programme Fusion, which is due to return on November 18th.
Of Rush’s signing, MLW CEO Court Bauer had the following to say:
It’s not very often someone as special as Lio Rush ends up on the open market.
Lio is hands down the top top free agent in the sport and I look forward to some of the dream matches on the horizon for fans… and for the record, I’d be remiss if I didn’t give Wale the assist on this.
He had a lot to do with facilitating this relationship and we’re all grateful for it.
News of Rush’s arrival follows swiftly on from MLW’s previous announcement, confirming the arrival of AAA’s Laredo Kid.
Kid, the current AAA World Cruiserweight Champion, last competed in MLW in 2019 and has his sights set on a potential unification bout with MLW Middleweight Champion Myron Reed.
As per MLW, Konnan (who has ties with both promotions) is in talks to secure several AAA Title defenses on US soil as part of MLW’s #TheRestart.
MLW have already added the likes of ACH, Bu Ku Dao, La Parka Jr. and Calvin Tankman to their roster ahead of their return to television in November.
