A new report has claimed that Tony Khan and MJF got into a “heated discussion” over a recent interview given by the AEW star.

MJF recently gave an interview with Ariel Helwani for his podcast, The Ariel Helwani Show. In the conversation, the AEW star touched on a number of topics including his recent feud with CM Punk, his thoughts on WWE and his contract status.

The ‘Salt of the Earth’ has been open about his contract expiring in 2024, openly using his spots on AEW television and interviews to tease the prospect of a bidding war for his services.

However, a new report from Fightful Select, has claimed that the interview led to a “heated discussion” between MJF and AEW President Tony Khan over the weekend. The report notes that the star has been left frustrated by his contract status with the company. While from his side, Khan took issue with the interview being arranged without the knowledge of AEW’s PR team.

Fightful also state that those who they spoke to, didn’t feel the content of the interview would have been an issue if this had happened.

In the interview, MJF spoke of his relationship with long-term WWE executive Bruce Prichard. The leader of The Pinnacle said that he knew Prichard from his time in MLW. He explained that he felt Prichard was “enamoured” with him and produces “incredible television.” MJF added that there was currently an “absurd amount of interest in him.”

It has also been reported that WWE hold an interest in Jade Cargill and Wardlow, while the company are also said to be “very high” on Ethan Page.
