AEW World Champion, MJF will make a rare in-ring appearance on the upcoming February 8th edition of Dynamite.
The last time the self-proclaimed Devil was in action was in December of last year. On the Winter is Coming special edition of AEW’s flagship show he fought Ricky Starks to successfully retain his Dynamite Diamond Ring and the world title.
The champ’s first match of 2023 comes against one of the promotion’s fasting-rising and toughest stars, Konosuke Takashita. The two face off in a World title eliminator match after weeks of animosity.
The hostility between the two stems from a promo in which Friedman insulted the Japanese star several times. The insults flew prior to Takeshita’s match with Bryan Danielson as the American Dragon fights his way to a championship challenge at Revolution.
The current World Champion incurred the wrath of Danielson ever since he betrayed William Regal after his title victory over Jon Moxley at Full Gear 2022. Always the master of evasion, Friedman has forced Danielson to face several difficult opponents in order to get a shot at him and the title.
One of those recent opponents was Timothy Thatcher. During the match, Friedman attempted to interfere but was halted and chased away by Takeshita. The two brawled backstage, resulting in Tony Khan making their match official.
MJF has since taken to social media to comment on his match with Takeshita vowing to make everyone regret backing him.
“I promise you. You’ll regret ever backing this man.”
MJF Wants Bryan Danielson Taken Out
After his match with Thatcher, AEW announced Danielson’s next opponent. On the same show as the World title eliminator match, Danielson will face Rush.
Following the announcement, the champion approached Rush and offered him a briefcase full of cash to take the American Dragon out of action before the PPV.
The other matches announced for Dynamite, Wednesday, February 8th are:
