MJF doesn’t often throw praise anyone’s way but he has named Paul Heyman as one of the greatest wrestling promos of all time.
Heyman’s musings on the microphone have become the stuff of legend as he had stood beside stars such as Rick Rude, Steve Austin, Paul Wight, Kurt Angle, Brock Lesnar, and now Roman Reigns during his illustrious career.
With Paul Heyman leading the charge, Brock Lesnar went from WWE debut to WWE Champion in just four months in 2002. That feat was to be bettered twelve years later when Lesnar ended the legendary streak of The Undertaker at WrestleMania XXX with Heyman by his side.
These days Paul Heyman counts himself as Special Counsel for The Tribal Chief Roman Reigns. Heyman has overseen a year-long title reign for The Head Of The Table as Reigns has seen off stars such as Edge, Daniel Bryan, and John Cena to keep his Universal Championship.
One man who is also no stranger to a microphone is AEW’s precocious star, MJF. The leader of The Pinnacle has won no fans with his tongue lashings and it seems as if the Long Island native would have it no other way.
Speaking exclusively to Inside The Ropes’ own Kenny McIntosh for ’20 Questions’ in issue 11 of Inside The Ropes magazine, MJF lavished praise on Heyman and set the scene for quite a night out between the two men:
“I think Paul Heyman is one of the greatest on-air promos or orators in the history of professional wrestling. He’s also a New York Jew and I have a feeling that me and him would throw visceral barbs at one another for hours and also visceral barbs at the waiter, and visceral barbs at the surrounding tables, and sarcastic quips. And we would just be making each other laugh silly until we lost oxygen.”
MJF looks to gain the biggest win of his career and put an end to Chris Jericho’s thirty-plus year wrestling odyssey as the two will meet one another in The Final Fight at All Out.
