MJF – “Roddy Piper Made Me Fall In Love With Wrestling”

MJF

MJF may not have much good to say about anyone but the leader of The Pinnacle has discussed which star made him fall in love with professional wrestling.

Maxwell Jacob Friedman has risen to prominence as part of All Elite Wrestling, feuding with top names such as Cody Rhodes, Jon Moxley, and more recently, his former ally Chris Jericho. Jericho and MJF are set to face off in what is being billed as ‘The Final Fight’ with Jericho’s career on the line at All Out.

Speaking exclusively to Inside The Ropes’ own Kenny McIntosh for ’20 Questions’ in issue 11 of Inside The Ropes magazine, MJF revealed who is to blame for his love of wrestling, naming them as his dream opponent:

“Roddy Piper. Before me, I’m going to say the only person who would equal the ability to get a visceral reaction from the crowd was Piper. Piper made me fall in love with wrestling.”

“And if I was able to have an opportunity to have promos back and forth with Roddy, and then a match that I know would be vicious as all hell. I think that would probably go down as the greatest match in the history of professional wrestling.”

As far as wrestling idols when MJF was growing up, the two-time Dynamite Diamond Ring winner certainly had an affinity for some of wrestling’s greatest villains:

“Chris Jericho was up there. As much as I hate to admit it. I would say Chris Jericho is most certainly up there. Roddy Piper. I would throw in Tully Blanchard, I would throw in “Hot Stuff” Eddie Gilbert, I would throw in Ric Flair and I would also throw in Chris Candido.”
