The professional wrestling contingent in Hollywood might be about to gain a new member as MJF reportedly looks to broaden his horizons beyond the mat.
Over the past few weeks and months, the stand-off and seemingly, at least for a time, incredibly strained relationship between Maxwell Jacob Friedman and Tony Khan has taken on a life of it’s own.
From the star publicly declaring that he would move to WWE if the price was right, to a backstage disagreement with the AEW President over his conduct. The situation reached boiling point during Double or Nothing weekend as MJF missed a fan-fest event ahead of the show.
Although the star then appeared on Double or Nothing as planned, he blurred the lines between fact and fiction further on the following episode of Dynamite. Live mic in hand, MJF launched into a tirade against the fans, the online wrestling community, and his colleagues before screaming at his “f*cking mark” boss to fire him.
In fact, the AEW star does move WWE and goes on to have a glittering career, the story could make a pretty compelling movie.
Fightful Select have now offered an update on the situation, while also noting that MJF met with Tony Khan at Rampage the day before his missed fan fest appearance. It’s unknown as to whether this meeting played a role in what followed.
After his “pipebomb” on Dynamite, MJF didn’t appear at a WarnerMedia/Discovery/AEW party which featured many top AEW stars, while he also missed Rampage two days later.
The report states that there have been rumours that MJF stayed in Los Angles for a number of days, which ties in with his interest to pursue opportunities in Hollywood. In addition MJF had meetings set up in LA with the aim of exploring that further.
The star has claimed to have already recorded a voice-over part in an animated which comes out next year.
