New details have emerged about MJF’s latest foray into acting.
Deadline reports that Maxwell Jacob Friedman has wrapped up filming on The Floaters, a new film project about a Jewish summer camp directed by Rachel Israel. The film stars GLOW’s Jackie Tohn and Reservation Dogs’ Sarah Podemski.
A summary of the movie’s plot reads as follows:
“The movie follows struggling musician Nomi (Tohn) who accepts a last-resort job from her overachiever best friend Mara (Podemski): mentoring misfit campers, the “Floaters,” at their childhood Jewish summer camp. As the camp struggles to survive amidst competition with a longtime rival, Nomi, the Floaters, and Mara must overcome their differences to bring the community together and save the camp.”
The film also features Aya Cash as Rabbi Rachel, Judah Lewis as Jonah, Ninia Bloomgarden as Lindsey, Jake Ryan as Wetspot, and Seth Green as Daniel.
Speaking about the project, director Rachel Israel said:
“We are very proud to say that The Floaters boasts Jewish actors cast in virtually every role – allowing for an authentic portrayal and celebration of the diversity within modern Jewish communities. The Floaters resists tired cliches often attributed in the media to embrace a rich culture and explore multidimensional Jewish characters.”
MJF Is Currently Injured
Despite retaining his AEW World Championship against Jay White at Full Gear in November, MJF left the bout with multiple injuries. Not only did dislocate his hip when delivering an elbow drop onto White after the announce table broke in advance, he also hurt his shoulder in the match.
The star was able to avoid surgery, and at AEW Worlds End, he competed in the main event against Samoa Joe. Joe was victorious in the bout, ending Friedman’s record-breaking reign as AEW World Champion. The star has not been seen on AEW television since Worlds End.
