AEW World Champion MJF has compared himself to Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns and says he reveres The Tribal Chief.
MJF captured the AEW World title for the first time when he defeated Jon Moxley at Full Gear in controversial circumstances. Towards the end of the match, William Regal came to the ring to plead with Friedman not to use the Dynamite Diamond Ring to win the match. MJF agreed and threw the ring away. However, moments later, while Moxley was distracted Regal slid brass knuckles to The Salt of the Earth, who promptly used them to knock Mox out cold and get the pinfall victory.
MJF compares himself to Roman Reigns
The victory has placed MJF at the top of AEW and the star sees himself as the face of the company. During a recetn interview on the Pardon My Take podcast, he was asked about top star of WWE, Roman Reigns, and whether he reveres The Head of the Table. Perhaps surprisingly, MJF said he does.
“I do, I absolutely do. I feel like I’m the face of my company, and I think it’s more than fair to say that Roman Reigns is the face of his company over in WWE, which is also a tremendous, tremendous wrestling show.”
While MJF made history in becoming the youngest ever AEW World Champion, he still has a lot to do to reach the level of Roman Reigns. The Undisputed WWE Universal Champion has smashed record after record during his own historic reign, having held the WWE Championship for 237 days and the Universal Championship for 818 days, a run unheard of in the modern era.
Roman Reigns will next be in action at Survivor Series on November 26th when he and the rest of The Bloodline take on Drew McIntyre, Kevin Owens, and The Brawling Brutes in a brutal WarGames match.
