Miro Competes In First Match Since Leaving AEW

Miro Addresses AEW Absence

Former AEW Star Miro returned to the ring for the first time since 2023.

As announced on social media on February 15th, Miro wrestled for Qatar Pro Wrestling [QPW] SuperSlam III show on February 21st and 22nd in Doha.

The former TNT Champion met former WWE Champion and current AAA Mega Champion Alberto El Patron at the event. This was Miro’s first match since leaving Tony Khan’s promotion and his first defeating Andrade El Idolo at Worlds End on December 30th, 2023.

Following the match, LuchaLibreOnline posted some images and an update notifying fans when and where they can watch the bout:

“AAA Mega Champion Alberto Del Rio was Miro’s first opponent in his return to the ring and it happened at QPW in Doha, Qatar, as part of the SuperSlam III super event, which will be available from March 2 on @FiteTV @QPWrestling”

WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley, and former WWE Superstars Matt Cardona, Nic Nemeth, Mustafa Ali, and several others also appeared on the show.

Miro, Malakai Black and Ricky Saints were released from AEW

On February 10th, news broke that Miro, Malakai Black and Ricky Starks had all been released from their contracts following their sudden removals from the company’s roster page.

While The Redeemer is back in action and Ricky Saints now a part of NXT, there have been no updates as to what is next for Black. However, it has been previously speculated that both Black and Miro will make their returns to WWE soon.

Following their departures, Dave Meltzer stated in the February 17th, 2025, edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

“The belief is that Black and Miro will also be in WWE very soon. It wouldn’t surprise me to see CJ Perry back involved with him but that’s less of a definite. Those in WWE had said creative had been talking about Black and Miro.”

In recent news, Alberto Del Rio has spoken out about his recent Tijuana wrestling ban after assaulting a fan at a AAA event.
