Recent AEW signee Mike Bailey has spoken about joining “the big leagues” and why the promotion is the right fit for him.
Making his debut on the March 12th edition of Dynamite, Bailey was revealed to be the wildcard entry in the International Championship Eliminator Tournament. Defeating The Beast Mortos, “Speedball” advanced to the next round and is one step closer to challenging Kenny Omega for the title at Dynasty.
Speaking about his signing with Chris Mueller of Bleacher Report, Bailey elaborated on why he chose to sign with All Elite Wrestling at this point in his career:
“I think my biggest accomplishment in pro wrestling, and in life to be honest, is making every single year better than the last. It was time for me to step up and make it to the big leagues, and AEW is where the best wrestle, and in my opinion, it’s where I belong.”
Bailey also addressed the possibility of appearing in other promotions while a part of AEW, stating that he would love to wrestle for New Japan and CMLL:
“Over the last three years under my previous contract, I was allowed to do all the independent bookings that I want. I wrestled for every single promotion in America that I could because I love variety. Obviously, right now, AEW is my focus. It’s where I want to be, it’s where I want to wrestle, but wrestling for New Japan and CMLL and going to those places to represent AEW would be a huge honor.”
