Mickie James Confronts Deonna Purrazzo At Slammiversary
Mickie James has returned to IMPACT for the first time in almost six years, confronting Knockouts Champion Deonna Purrazzo at Slammiversary!
Following a brutal but successful defence over the debuting Thunder Rosa, Deonna Purrazzo came face-to-face with five-time WWE Women’s Champion and Knockouts legend Mickie James! James proclaimed how good it felt to be back in IMPACT and in front of a live crowd before extending her congratulations to the champion on her retention.
The three-time Knockouts Champion let her actions speak for her respect for Purrazzo, inviting her to compete at NWA EmPowerrr next month. Ever the egotist, however, the 27-year-old brushed off James’ invitation and told her to “take your trash bag and get outta here”, promoting James to slap the champion! The confrontation escalated into a brawl which Mickie ultimately got the best of, knocking the champion to the canvas with a Mick Kick!

James last appeared in IMPACT (still known as TNA at the time) just shy of 6 years ago before pursuing a WWE return. Despite starting strong in a great showing against then-NXT Women’s Champion Asuka at NXT TakeOver: Toronto, James’ appearances would become more and more sporadic until her eventual release in April 2021. She’s since been working with NWA to produce their first-ever all-women’s show NWA EmPowerrr but has yet to make a return to the ring herself.
Elsewhere on Slammiversary: Chelsea Green debuted as Matt Cardona’s mystery partner, a vignette teased the impending arrival of the former Aiden English and FinJuice returned to IMPACT after nearly two months away!
