Mick Foley believes this boxing star belongs in the world of WWE.
Multi-time World Heavyweight Champion boxer Tyson Fury has made a number of appearances in WWE. At Crown Jewel in 2019, the star defeated Braun Strowman by countout, and they would later team up on an episode of SmackDown to deliver a beatdown to Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel.
Fury’s most recent appearance in WWE came at Clash at the Castle in 2022, where he and Drew McIntyre had a bizarre post-show singalong that was not meant to make it to air.
While Fury has stated that WWE is “too hard” for him and that he prefers the world of boxing, Hall of Famer Mick Foley believes the star would thrive in sports entertainment. Speaking in a recent interview with Sporting Life, Foley pointed to the fact that Fury is a wrestling fan and said he brought a lot of fun and talent with his appearances.
“Tyson Fury’s made for our world. He really enjoys it. Another guy who respects it, you know. I met him and he was a big wrestling fan. He.. not just brought a lot of fun to it, but he brought a lot of talent. That guy, that size, just moving away and dodging punches. He was kind of like Ali, with the quickness.” (h/t Fightful)
Mick Foley Pitches Unique WWE Match
In 2024, Foley announced that he was intending to get back in the ring one more time to celebrate his 60th birthday. However, due to health reasons at that point, Foley stated that the match was off.
In January 2025, the WWE Hall of Famer revealed that he had lost 100 pounds and was in much better health, but there would still not be a final match. Although a final match looks to be off the cards, Foley was asked about dream opponents in the same interview, and the WWE legend surprisingly pitched a match against Rhea Ripley.
In recent news, Mick Foley made a case for his 1998 Hell in a Cell match with The Undertaker to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.
