Mick Foley Thanks Randy Orton Following Tribute On Raw

Randy Orton & Mick Foley

WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley was touched by the kind words Randy Orton said about him on Monday Night Raw.

20 years to the day after making his WWE debut on SmackDown in 2002, Randy Orton was celebrated on Monday Night Raw in Knoxville, TN. Part of Orton’s address to the Knoxville crowd included thanking John Cena, Triple H, The Undertaker Shawn Michaels, and Mick Foley for the parts they played in making his career as successful as it’s been.

When addressing the Hardcore Legend, with whom he had an iconic No Holds Barred match at Backlash 2004, The Viper said:

“It’s because of Mick Foley that I became the Legend Killer.”

In response, Foley took to social media, thanking Orton for his kind words.

“Thank you for the kind words, Randy. Wow, that was really nice.”

The 18th anniversary of their iconic Backlash match took place on April 18th, and Foley also took to social media on that day to commemorate the occasion, calling it his favorite match.

“18 YEARS AGO TODAY! #BACKLASH vs @RandyOrton
My favorite match.”

After thanking various WWE Legends and praising Riddle for being an excellent and fun tag team partner, Orton was surprised as Riddle brought out Cody Rhodes to celebrate with them. Rhodes and Orton were famously aligned in the stable Legacy alongside Ted DiBiase, Jr. However, Seth Rollins interrupted the proceedings, and Ezekiel, Kevin Owens, and The Usos all followed with things to say. This set up the main event of the show which saw RK-Bro, Ezekiel, and Cody Rhodes defeat Kevin Owens, Seth Rollins, and The Usos.

Elsewhere on Raw, both Asuka and Mustafa Ali returned to WWE television after lengthy absences. Asuka confronted Becky Lynch, and Mustafa Ali made it known that he wanted to go after Theory’s United States Championship.
