WWE Hall Of Famer Mick Foley has been vocal after it had emerged that Zelina Vega’s hometown appearance at Madison Square Garden was cut for time.
As WWE returned to the world’s most famous arena and their spiritual home for SmackDown, they put on a show full of incidents with the SmackDown Tag Team Championship on the line as well as the return of The Demon version of Finn Balor.
According to a report from Fightful Select however, there were two segments planned for the show that had to be cut for time.
An unadvertised women’s tag team bout that would have pitted Carmella and Zelina Vega against Liv Morgan and Toni Storm was reportedly cut from SmackDown while the show was taking place. Another segment involving Happy Corbin and Kevin Owens was also cut from the show in the afternoon.
Since the show, Liv Morgan and Carmella simply tweeted ellipsis while Zelina Vega shared the word “nevermind” on social media along with photos of what would have been her gear for the night.
The appearance for Zelina Vega would have been extra significant as not only is she from New York, the date of the show fell on the eve of the anniversary of the 9/11 atrocities in which Vega’s father lost his life.
The significance of the event was not lost on former WWE Champion Mick Foley who took to social media to say:
That hurts ME – I can only imagine how Thea felt. Stay strong, my friend. https://t.co/CYZWWoqRAP
