Mick Foley Drops To His Knees To Beg For A Push For WWE Superstar

Mick Foley

It’s fair to say that with decades upon decades of experience between them, Mick Foley and Stone Cold Steve Austin know a little something about professional wrestling.

Not only that, it is widely accepted that both men vastly exceeded WWE’s relatively low expectations of them when they joined the company. And it is this experience and ability to prove Vince McMahon wrong that has led Mick Foley to lead an impassioned plea on behalf of Cesaro.

Foley is set to be the latest guest on Broken Skull Sessions with Stone Cold Steve Austin. Ahead of the episode’s premiere, WWE have released a clip of the pair doing a word association quiz.

Foley initially praised Sami Zayn, Drew McIntyre, Bobby Lashley and Bianca Belair before laying it all on the line for Cesaro.

The Hall of Famer turned to the camera, and highlighted his and Austin’s experience of exceeding expectations. This was followed by Foley dropping to his knees and begging Vince McMahon to give Cesaro a chance. Mrs Foley’s Baby Boy continued, imploring McMahon to “put a rocket ship” on the back of the Swiss Superman as he “wholeheartedly” believes in him.

It could be argued that Mick Foley is in perfect position to champion underutilised stars due to his own history with WWE.

Signed at the repeated behest of Jim Ross, Foley was someone who it was believed wouldn’t work in the bright lights of WWE. According to Ross, it took three try-outs, and Vince McMahon only relenting as he wanted Ross to know what it was like for a talent to break his heart to even sign Foley.

Something McMahon himself recently backed up, saying that he believed Foley “didn’t have any talent” prior to signing him.

Meanwhile, Cesaro has been embroiled in a feud with Seth Rollins in recent months months. The Swiss Cyborg may have defeated Rollins at WrestleMania 37, but that hasn’t stopped the former world champion coming for revenge.

Steve Austin’s Broken Skull Session with Mick Foley premieres Sunday 20th June on Peacock and the WWE Network.
