Mick Foley has recalled an unfortunate incident which saw him defecate live on pay-per-view during a match.
They say that anything can happen in the world of professional wrestling, but sometimes you wish that it didn’t. While moves going awry, or a performer getting injured is one thing, a wrester’s bodily functions betraying them in front of the world is quite another.
Speaking on a recent episode of his podcast, Foley is Pod, Mick Foley recalled an unfortunate incident where he defecated in the ring during a match with the Junkyard Dog. To add insult to injury, the match was on pay-per-view.
“You sometimes get somebody calling it on the show, or you know, even at one of my events, very seldom do I get the snarky comments. But one of them asks if I have ever pooped my pants and I was like, ‘ [If] You haven’t pooped your pants then you haven’t tried hard enough.’ Like that’s just an exertion you could argue that you should be there trying to do your best to empty your bowels before any match, right? Nature calls and sometimes you know, you there’s a lot of exertion.
You know, a guy who has been back dropped on the floor, there’s no shame, no shame in that… that’s not like a hollow refrain. And that’s not something you do just to impress the boys. You don’t come back and say [I crapped myself].
I remember pooping my pants against Junkyard Dog in a pay-per-view. And he thought when I said, I don’t know if I use the word poop in the heat of battle. You know, but he thought I meant and I farted and I corrected him. No, no, I didn’t fart, you know, it was a shart right? Yeah, there you go.”
Foley can take some solace in the fact that he’s far from alone in suffering this kind of mishap. John Cena famously relieved himself under the ring at a live event, while AEW’s Evil Uno also recently admitted to suffering “one of the most humiliating things that can happen.”
